Every year in Warrick County the Women’s Club of Newburgh (WCN) holds several Community Service Projects. Between September 2018 and May 2019 the WCN held seven (7) events throughout the community. These events included an Angel Tree for Chandler Elementary students where WCN members donated Christmas gifts for 23 underprivileged elementary students; an ice cream and cookie social for SIRS clients and staff; $500 for turkeys and helped to fill food boxes at Sharon Elementary; a Valentine party with bingo at the Newburgh Senior Citizens Center, and paid for 5 days of lunches at the Center. In addition WCN also enabled 58 students to purchase books at the Chandler Elementary Book Fair; provided a taco and ice cream bar at the WEC Center for students and staff, and volunteered at the Newburgh Food Pantry, including a $270 donation. Unfortunately, because of Covid, this past year we were unable to do many of our usual events. Let’s hope out next year is better.
Each month from September to May at the WCN monthly meetings a food collection is held that benefits various food banks in Warrick County including Warrick County Education Center, Mother Theresa Food Pantry and Newburgh Food Pantry.
